Description

Valgan 450 mg Tablet belongs to the class of antiviral medicines. It is used for the prevention of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection which may occur after an organ transplantation. It is also used to treat CMV eye infection in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). This medicine should not be taken if you are pregnant or are planning to get pregnant.

Dosage

If a dose of Valgan 450 mg dosage Tablet is missed, take the dose as soon as you remember it. If it is almost the time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.
Treatment of CMV Retinitis:
Starting : The recommended starting dose is 900 mg (two 450 mg tablets) twice a day for 21 days. Maintenance: Following initial treatment, or in adult patients with inactive CMV retinitis, the recommended dose is 900 mg (two 450 mg tablets) once a day.
Prevention of CMV Disease:
For adult patients who have received a heart or kidney-pancreas transplant, the recommended Valgan dose is 900 mg (two 450 mg tablets) once a day, starting within 10 days of transplantation until 100 days post-transplantation.Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.

Uses of Generic Valgan

Valgan 450 mg use (Valganciclovir 450 mg) in adults to treat cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis in people who have acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and to prevent cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease in people who have received a heart, kidney, or kidney-pancreas transplant and who have a high risk for getting CMV disease.
When CMV virus infects the eyes, it is called CMV retinitis. If CMV retinitis is left untreated, it can cause blindness.

 Warnings for special population

Pregnancy - Valgan 450 mg tab  is not recommended for use in pregnant women except in life-threatening conditions. Discuss all the risks and benefits with your doctor before taking this medicine.
Breast-feeding - This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. Your doctor may advise you to discontinue the medicine or to discontinue breastfeeding based on your clinical condition.

Side Effects
